Asuwa Shrine

Asuwa Shrine is located on top of Mt. Asuwa, dedicated to Emperor Keitai and Omiyadokoro-no-Mitama(earth spirit).

It is said that Emperor Keitai enshrined Omiyadokoro-no-Mitama on Mt. Asuwa for the people of Hokuriku District who were suffering from flood damage in ancient times. Later, Emperor Keitai himself was enshrined at this shrine by the people of Hokuriku District.

For this reason, Asuwa Shrine has been revered as the ancestral god of Hokuriku District by successive lords such as the Asakura and Matsudaira clans. Even today, many people visit the shrine to seek blessings for industrial promotion, construction safety, flood control, and the prosperity of descendants.
