Jodoji Temple

Jodoji Temple is a Shingon sect temple located at the foot of Mt. Ruri, and was founded by Prince Shotoku in 616 AD.

Ashikaga Takauji, who later became a shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate, prayed here for victory in battle.

The present main hall and two-story pagoda were rebuilt in 1327 after they were burned down in war, and are designated as national treasures in Japan.
